Our New Director
The NM Peace Choir is excited to welcome our new Artistic Director Stephen Lewis!
Stephen received his Master of Music/Choral Conducting Degree from Texas Tech University in Lubbock Texas where he was a Graduate Choral Assistant and Assistant Conductor. He also sang in various University choirs and was the Choir Director at Westmont Christian Church. Next, he received a Master of Business Administration in International Business from the University of Kansas and came to Albuquerque to begin a successful career in banking and finance.
Here in Albuquerque, Stephen has been the Choir Director and managed the choral department at St Pius X High School, directed the featured choir in Carnegie Hall in 2011, has taught private voice lessons and all of his choirs have received Superior rankings in choral competitions!
Stephen also performs as a baritone soloist and chorister with the Cathedral of St John Choir and Polyphony: Voices of New Mexico and has had various freelance performances with Opera Southwest, Quintessence and The Albuquerque Youth Symphony among others. Stephen is also active in the music community serving on the board of The New Mexico Symphonic Chorus as the Governance Committee Chair…. WOW! Welcome Stephen
We are very pleased and fortunate to have Denise Baccadutre as our accompanist! “Ms. B” received her BA in Vocal Music and Music Education from Wichita State University. After teaching music in Kansas, she moved to Moriarty, New Mexico, where she taught choir and piano and received her MA in Educational Administration. Denise became a school administrator prior to returning to teach music, eventually retiring after 25 years. Ms. B. recently retired again after teaching music at the Estancia Valley Classical Academy.
