About the New Mexico Peace Choir
With our voices, actions and intentions, we create positive change.
We sing to build connection between individuals, the community, the world. We sing to remind us that we are all one and we're on this human journey together. The connections we make while singing are why we do what we do. We believe our music will help transform our world into a kinder, more peaceful place.
Our History
The New Mexico Peace Choir was founded by Christy Conduff in December of 2015 as an inclusive, mixed voice choir. We sing inspiring songs about peace, kindness, connection, and the human spirit.
Since the beginning, we have experienced tremendous growth and are committed to making a difference in people’s lives. The NMPC has had sell out concerts in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, opened three annual sessions of the NM Legislature, performed for The World Day of Peace, Earth Day, and at various rallies for peace and justice.
We were honored to represent The U.S. at The World Peace Choir Conference in Vienna, Austria and sing with The Vienna Boys Choir and other Peace Choirs from around the world. The choir then performed at The U.S. Embassy in Prague, The Czech Republic and was live streamed to other American Embassies worldwide.
The NMPC was excited to perform the opening ceremonies for The 2017 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, followed by a center stage concert!
In 2018, we were invited to perform the American debut of the "Great War Symphony" (commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Armistice ending WWI on 11/11/2018) at Carnegie Hall under the direction of the British composer Patrick Hawes.
In December 2018, we opened and performed at the International Relations "Journalism Under Fire" Conference attended by journalists from around the world.
In 2019, The Peace Choir was voted Albuquerque's "Best Chorus" in the Alibi Magazine's "Best of Burque" Readers Poll!
Stephen Lewis joined as our director at the end 2019 and helped to shepherd the choir through the trials and tribulations of the COVID epidemic, even when we were unable to meet in person.
Our current director, David Poole, joined us in December of 2022.
